| New sub-miniature connectors are ideal for high speed communication equipment | |
Quadrant has introduced to the UK a new range of sub-miniature, blind mate, push-on, 50ohm RF connectors from Telegartner that is designed for cable assembly and PCB to PCB applications with a frequency requirement of up to 12GHz. Telegartner SMP connectors have a high quality push-on coupling mechanism and mating faces that meet MIL-STD-348A. They are ideal for applications such as high speed signal transmission lines in communications equipment. Cable terminations are either crimp or solder designs for flexible or semi-rigid cable. Board-to-board connections can be made using SMP ‘bullets’, which are female to female, blind-mate adaptors that are a flexible link between PCB mounted male connectors. The range is available with different coupling mechanisms to suit specific requirements. Smooth bore allows for maximum float for mating with radial and axial misalignment between mating planes and limited and full detent coupling is ideal for mobile applications with shock and vibration requirements. The mating cycle capability is greater than 100, 500 and 1,000 for full detent, limited detent and smooth bore respectively and all types are ideal for use in military and commercial applications such as satellite, radar, telematics and other communications equipment.

| Quadrant opens subsidiary manufacturing company in Slovakia | |
Quadrant, the Hertfordshire-based electronics component distributor and cable assembly manufacturer, has formed a new manufacturing subsidiary in Slovakia. The new company, known as Quadrant Connections Slovakia, is based in Presov, the country’s third largest city. The new company employs 40 people and is equipped to the same high standards and level of capability as the Radlett headquarters providing a wide ranging manufacturing capability serving both UK and overseas customers while providing support to Quadrant’s growing customer base in Eastern Europe. A new high capacity, over-moulding facility has recently been installed in Presov and the new facility provides full panel and box-build capability manufacturing coaxial and multi-wire cable assemblies of many types including: wiring harnesses and panels incorporating flexible coaxial, conformable coaxial, semi-rigid coaxial and non-coaxial cables. Mike Wood, Quadrant sales and marketing director, points out that the same high standards are employed in all Quadrant manufacturing plants saying: “Quadrant Connections Slovakia operates to the same exacting standards that we have always employed in Radlett and other sites where we have had manufacturing agreements. Quadrant has manufactured in Eastern Europe for many years and the fact that we now have our own company in this region will be of great benefit to our customers in all areas as it allows us to call on cost-effective manufacturing services as required while placing a wealth of engineering expertise and product knowledge in an area that is strategically important to our future growth plans.”

| New Telegartner terminal loads from Quadrant | |
Quadrant has introduced to the UK additions to the popular range of Telegartner 50 ohm termination loads that extend the power handling capability up to 625W making them suitable for both telecommunication and radio applications. Telegartner GmbH has a high reputation as a supplier of coaxial RF connector products and these new terminal loads now have a power range that caters for the 10W requirement of mobile communication applications up to the 625W version, which is fitted with an external heat-sink, specifically designed for radio broadcasting transmission stations. Used to terminate RF systems by simulating a load and dissipating energy, these high performance loads are available in 7/16, N, TNC, SMA and R-SMA series and cover the frequency range from DC up to 18 GHz. Return losses are typically >26dB at 960 MHz, >32 dB at 2.5 GHz, >25 dB at 6.0 GHz, >21 dB at 7.5 GHz and >13 dB at 18.0 GHz.
